He also defended his tariff policies, stating there might be short-term difficulties, but that they would ultimately benefit Americans in the long run. A large focus of that congressional address was on the war in Ukraine. As Nomia mentioned, Donald Trump read out a letter from Vladimir Zelensky. In it, the Ukrainian president said he's ready to work under Mr Trump's strong leadership and come to the negotiating table as soon as possible. It follows a White House announcement on Monday that it was freezing all military support for Ukraine.
