You don't want the life preserver, but apart from the saving work of the spirit reaching into the prophets, use the language of you have a heart of stone. God is going to give you a heart of flesh, but it's God's work that does that. And so we don't deserve that. That freedom.

I think if it was that, then I think we would have a problem. I think what the Bible says, particularly in that creation story, right, is that you are created with purpose and meaning and intention, and it is good. You actually bear the image of God, and there's something about that that is special.

So in one sense, you're more of a piece of shit than you can imagine, but also you're more loved and more— That's awesome. of amazing things that you can imagine. And that's the dichotomy of Christianity is that God does not need to create, right? So God lives in a set of living, loving relationships in the Trinity.
