The ruling overturns a COVID-era decision by the Food and Drug Administration that allowed abortion pills to be obtained through mail or telemedicine.

Jennifer Wanekot is a spokesperson with Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California.

She says this ruling will affect all states, even those like California, with strong protections for abortion access.

Wanacott says that mifepristone and other abortion medications are still available in the state, but must be obtained in person through a provider.

The Republican-backed measure would amend the state constitution to require voters to identify themselves for both in-person and mail-in voting.

Currently, ID is only required when a voter registers.

Julia Gomez is an attorney with the ACLU of Southern California.

She says this measure would add a burden to every voter in the state.

Supporters say the measure would restore voter faith in elections and address fraud.

The direct-to-consumer crab sales come after commercial crabbers faced weeks of delays and restrictions. That follows delays to the season's start for the past six years over concerns about whale entanglements in commercial crabbing nets. The delays have financially hurt crabbers, so since 2021, some have been allowed to sell crab from their boats at Fisherman's Wharf.
