By the time the highway police got to the scene of the crash there on the back road, and of course that car exploded and burned, they had forgotten all about the gunshots, if they'd heard them at all.
So George and I were able to leave by the main road unmolested
At the bottom of the hill, I picked up my own car without attracting attention.
I suppose I'll have to make some sort of report to the police.
But I don't see any reason why I should have to reveal the name of the man they were out to get.
Do you?
It's certainly too late to need anyone to bring charges against them.
As for the expense account, so what's a couple of gallons of gas in so good a cause?
