Ed and I left the handyman, Oliver Randall, at his apartment house, went outside and got in the car.
Neither one of us could find any explanation for it, but we both had a hunch there was something wrong with the setup.
We drove to a neighborhood service station, called the office and told them we were going to stake the apartment house.
We drove back and found a place to park where we could keep the building under surveillance without being seen.
We waited.
10 p.m., 10.30, 11 o'clock.
