Because Griffin is going to hit probably every one of them.
Mm-hmm.
Exactly.
But Roman Anthony, really, to say it's eight years, $130 million, that's at a minimum.
It's going to be more like eight years and $200 million.
Well, here's the other point and the final point that Rosenthal will make via me in this segment.
Perhaps Griffin would take something lower.
And again, he just explained that Roman Anthony, the kid we all saw at the World Baseball Classic, corner outfielder for the Red Sox, eight years, $130 million with escalators that could take it to $230 million for a kid who had like 30 at-bats or something.
Or no, I'm sorry.
He had 200 plate appearances when they signed him.
Griffin perhaps would take something lower, Rosenthal says, but he is a shortstop.
And Anthony is a corner outfielder.
And my words are two.
Big difference.
No matter what economic system the league and the union might adopt in this CBA, Griffin's value as a free agent entering his 26 or 27 season would be extreme.
So I think we can only maybe imagine what Griffin might be asking for.
He could be asking for $300 million when it gets to escalators.
$250.
I don't know.
If Anthony gets escalators that could bring his to $230, why wouldn't Griffin ask for a bigger deal than that?
