I bring up Andy Toole, and I really like what Andy Toole has done.
He's been there for such a long time in Robert Morris, and he's shown me that he can rebuild quickly.
I realize the NIL game is difficult, especially in the ACC with so many other teams spending a lot of money and so many big college programs all over the country, but I would certainly entertain a conversation with him.
It's an argument you never really had to make before.
It was just a coach decision.
And now you have to worry about money.
If you're gathering money...
to make a coaching change, how much more can you tap those guys who are providing the money?
Do they have billionaires who can come up with the kind of money that he needs or they need?
I understand that.
But my point is they don't have enough to do both.
I mean, how much accountability must there be, though, for a head coach who has one NCAA tournament appearance in eight years?
We talk about this all the time with coaches.
How long is their expected stay if things don't go well?
And I realize he's signed all the way in through the end of the decade here.
So that's your problem with us.
And this is why I think times have changed.
If I were an athletic director and I realize that, you know, you have a good coach or somebody you want to retain, I would wait until the end of a contract.
I know that's not what they do.
