You know what?
Now I'm thinking about this, and I should know this.
Actually, limits should know this.
If a ground ball goes through somebody's legs and they don't touch it, that's still an error, correct?
Sure it is.
So why on a fly ball that you lose in the sun that lands one inch from your left foot, why isn't that an error?
It all should be.
How could that not be an error limit?
There was clearly an error on that.
I guess it's another unwritten rule in the outfield.
If you don't touch it, it's not an error.
But it's wrong.
I agree with you that it's wrong.
I'm trying to figure out what the actual rule is, though.
Ultimately, it's the official scorekeeper's discretion and things like field quality.
I'm reading off.
I don't even know what the hell I'm reading off at this point.
If a player misreads it or is too lazy to run to a ball that should have been caught, it is an error.
Okay.
Then he should have been charged with two errors.
