Coach, I met you last week.
I was in Indianapolis last Friday afternoon for Connor's AAA debut, and here we are seven days later.
I didn't think I'd be running into you again, but I'm very happy for that.
Did you get any sort of indication from Connor like it was going to be that fast?
What did Connor say the moment was like when he found out, and how did he relay it to your family?
Last week, Connor said he was, I think, 12 or 13 when he got the feel of, like, oh, I'm pretty good at this.
I might be able to do this professionally.
And here we are seven years later, and he is about to make his major league debut still as a teenager.
When did you, as a coach and also as his dad, watch him and think, Connor has a shot to play in the majors one day?
The day that he hit those two home runs against the Red Sox in spring training, I found out on a Connor Griffin rabbit hole of Day in the Life YouTube videos.
There's a ton out there, Kevin.
But what I took away from it especially was his training regimen is intense and extreme, and it's just definitely helping to get to this point.
There we go.
I have a wiffle ball league here in the city that I run.
Seven years going strong now.
We got a national tournament.
It's actually kind of cool.
Kevin, I know at least with my parents, my mom is somebody that cries at just about everything.
My dad has always shown very little emotion.
I know you won't really know until the moment hits you, but what do you anticipate the emotions being like when your son gets his name called, he runs out onto the field, and there's roughly 40,000 people that are on their feet for him?
