Sir Savard, who before he broke both ankles, was as brilliant and gifted of a defenseman as there was.
And Gila Point.
Now, all three of those guys are in the Hockey Hall of Fame.
They were great defensemen and part of Stan Bowman's father, Scotty Bowman's four consecutive Stanley Cups from 1976 to 79, when really the Canadians saved the game.
Because, of course, we have the brawlers from Philly, the Broad Street Bullies, in 74 and 75, winning back-to-back cups.
Don't worry about it.
Montreal was tough, too.
And part of the reason why they were tough, too, is because they had Larry Robinson kicking Dave the Hammer Schultz's ass back in 1974.
And I thought Darnell had a chance to be that type of defenseman.
