So I knew it was important to actually have the assistance of the ocean while my body was conditioning to paddling over 100k a day most days.
And that East Australian current helped the paddling felt easy.
Yeah.
Yeah, absolutely.
And, you know, it was the two parts of it.
It was at the start, physically, that was the biggest challenge.
And when I say easy paddling...
I don't mean it was easy all the time.
I mean there were times where I couldn't lift my paddle above my belly button.
I couldn't move and talk at the end of the day.
But the loneliness was the biggest challenge.
Being in the water for 16 hours a day,
not being able to come in towards my crew.
Sometimes the boat, I had a 38-foot catamaran supporting me, showing me where to go, but I couldn't get within 100 metres of them a lot of the days because it was too dangerous.
That boat's 10 tonne.
It was just the constant mind games I had to play.
It was having the devil and the angel on the shoulder and the devil saying...
I don't think you can do this.
You've bitten off more than you can chew.
You've gotten all of these people invested.
