What excites you about...
the group that you have, like diving in, you'll probably be more excited the more you dive into it.
And maybe this is an unfair question because you were just named officially the pitching coach a couple hours ago.
But what excites you a lot about this job and about this group?
So that's a perfect segue into a couple things I want to talk about, about the older pitchers and the younger pitchers.
We'll start with the younger pitchers.
When you get these pitchers, younger pitchers, up to the major leagues, that's the goal.
But then you have to introduce them to, in both cases, your last two stops, Boston and New York, you have to introduce them to under the microscope.
Okay, go perform.
Okay.
we'll get to sort of the ins and outs of the actual pitching, but for you, for mentality, how do you view that?
You mentioned Peyton Tolley, you mentioned Conley Early, some of these other guys.
You get dropped, and not only do you get dropped into Boston or New York, you're getting dropped into the expectation that you've got to help right now.
This is where sort of the pitching coach of the mind and the psychology of it comes into it.
What's your take on that dynamic?
How different is it?
How different is that, the jump from AAA to the major leagues?
I mean, I know obviously it's the major leagues and that's AAA, but we hear about, okay, this year, this generation is a lot bigger or smaller, whatever it is.
For you, looking at that dynamic, how big a jump is that?
Or maybe it isn't as big as it used to be.
