That is not only woefully an underestimated amount, it's still more than the amount that we would need to improve the museum campus.
It's the only plan that exists right now.
Let me just make sure we clarify.
The ISFA, the Illinois Sports Facilities Authority, the 2% hotel tax that...
generates revenue for this particular function would not just be a revenue stream for the Bears.
Our Chicago Stars want to play in Chicago.
Any of our sports franchises could benefit from this particular revenue stream, because that's the only thing that it can do.
If it could do something else, we would be having a much different discussion.
As far as the infrastructure needs for
The museum campus, those infrastructure needs predate me.
They've been there.
The more accurate amount is around $750 million.
So, that's what we're referring to.
In other words, the public would own a stadium that the hotel tax, which, of course, visitors come.
We had 3.5 million people visit our city over the summer.
That's more than any other time in the history of Chicago.
At a time in which we're already building a football stadium for our soccer club,
I'm going to be on the west side right after this, the 1901 project where we are expanding affordable housing right outside the United Center, a 6,000-seat facility for the arts and culture.
Clearly, we can build in Chicago.
