The End Game

But that's all going to come down to the philosophy of how they see this rebuild going.

And ultimately, I'm sure that philosophy is,

is also going to dictate who they choose to be at the helm and try to drive them through this rebuild one way or another.

you know, ultimately that I agree that, you know, you could probably win 10 more games and, you know, you're still not close to a playoff spot.

You're still in the lottery, although maybe not with the best odds.

So, you know, there is a lot of room for improvement while still rebuilding, but, you know, to your point about having your cake and eating it too, that might be a hard needle to thread, right?

Obviously, you'll have to make moves and bring in players to improve upon what you've done, unless you're convinced that maybe a bunch of things that went wrong for you last year going right would make a big enough difference, like a healthy Thatcher Demko, a healthy Philip Hedl, just as a couple of examples.

You can, you know, provide an entertaining product for your fans while also taking a longer term view of things and considering moving off someone like Philip Heronic, if the right offer came about and the assets were there, um,

But I do also think that you have to be careful about just saying, oh, we'll trade DeBrusque, we'll trade Patterson, we'll trade Hirona, because eventually you need guys to play for your team and you want your young players to be surrounded by strong players.

veterans that can sort of help show them the way and help insulate them from some of the issues that we saw this team go through down the stretch when they weren't very competitive this past year so it is a fine needle to thread and that's why um you know the the challenge for the new general manager is not necessarily going to be a straightforward or easy one i think there are a lot of uh hazards ahead on the road that they'll have to navigate

And, you know, it's that's going to be really interesting because Adam Foote was brought in to do one job and now the job has changed.

quite drastically, potentially, depending on what we already talked about, about how they see this rebuild going and what their vision is for it and how aggressive they plan to sort of lean in to the longer-term view of things or not.
