And I always thought it was really great that he created Cliff Hardy and stuck with him and created this whole number of books about him.
Because if you want to be a great city, you've got to have an iconic detective.
London has Sherlock Holmes and Los Angeles has Philip Marlowe and we've got Cliff Hardy.
And I think we should be very thankful to him for sticking it out and doing that and creating such a wonderful legacy.

You know, the streets he walked down were the streets that everyone in Sydney has walked down.
He wrote about Newtown and Glebe and the western suburbs and Palm Beach.
It was all there.
And I really, really enjoyed his work, yeah.
Yeah, I think if you're interested in Australian literature, you will have read something by Robert Drew.
I mean, I've read quite a few of the books of short stories.
So yeah, no, I'm very familiar.
Also, he's had a very long and prolific career and he's written movies.
A novel of his called Our Sunshine was turned into a movie.
It's about Ned Kelly.
Two of his books were turned into television series.
You know, he's about as successful as a full-time writer could probably be in Australia, I think.
And he's been doing it a very long time.
