And as they go, the radio station they're listening to starts to fade out.
And the guy doesn't understand why that's happening.
And one of the other guys kind of laughs at him, and he says, I've never left Baltimore before.
So he'd never experienced that, right?
Well, okay.
So 4805 kilocycles is the training frequency.
It's also a frequency that a lot of people operate on.
So while it's fine to talk to the plane right next to you because your signal is going to be the strongest they have and they're going to be able to hear you trying to talk back to the base, your base or any of the other listening stations in Florida is going to get harder and harder.
particularly as it gets dark.
Because guess who else transmits at 4805 kilocycles?
Radio stations.
In particular, Cuban radio stations.
So, weird thing about radio signals.
And some of you've experienced this as well.
If you ever listen to AM radio, if you guys remember what that is, AM radio.
So if I remember correctly, FM goes in a straight line.
So like it's really strong when you're close to it.
And even when you're a little bit further away, but then it's gone, right?
Like it has an absolute limit to how far you can hear it.
Cause then it just goes off into space because of the earth and
