We only had one coach fired during the season.
That was Willie Green in New Orleans.
Actually, there was an expectation that there could be six or eight coaches fired.
And I talked about it with people behind the scenes for weeks.
As soon as the trade deadline ends in February, behind the scenes, people say, well, what front office is going to come open and what coach is going to come open?
And what's happened, Tony, is that some teams that were, I think, very likely to fire their head coach, including your hometown Washington Wizards, Brian Keefe.
They kept him.
and have not done it.
And then, like, I'll just be honest with you, a lot of, you know, the Orlando Magic underachieved so significantly during the season that a lot of people felt that Jamal Mosley, their coach, would be fired within seconds
48 hours of the end of the year because people didn't think they were even going to get out of the play-in.
Not now.
Not now.
And now, you know, maybe he should ask for an extension.
He's about to pull off one of the great upsets in league history.
So, you know, sometimes projecting and guessing coaching stuff, you can, you know, it cannot go the way you think.
All of that.
Every situation is different.
Every team has a different thing.
I think one of the things that happens in the NBA, sometimes a coach, because of how much money he has left on his contract, he sometimes will get more of a rope.
