A couple of baseball things before we move on to some other items, as Al would like to say.
Similar to the Giancarlo Stanton clip from last hour, Aaron Boone met the media yesterday before the Tony Clark bombshell came out.
At this point, we simply knew that he had resigned as MLBPA executive director ahead of the impending CBA talks that are going to play out between now and next season, potential work stoppage for 2027, and Boone was asked about all of that.
He thinks that the fans are into it, and there's a lot of viewership, and he's into the WBC and all that, but safe to say Tony Clark will no longer be involved in those talks.
Exactly.
Doesn't matter.
I saw that reference in a few players yesterday, or in a few different places, I should say.
More from Craig in McMonagle's interview with Mets manager Carlos Mendoza here on The Fan yesterday afternoon.
So I played a few of the clips last hour regarding the locker room issues from last season.
Craig teed him up on politics, players' wives, Lindor, Soto, and we heard Mendoza sound kind of surprised, almost caught off guard, and talking about the issue being their on-field performance in the second half, nothing more.
So Craig circled back to make sure he was clear on his line of questioning.
Longer clip as he laid it all out for the Met manager in detail.
Found all this very entertaining.
One more follow-up from Craig before they moved on.
They got a long fine.
We just need to play good baseball.
So he's sticking with that, and I will say, I mean, we heard some of the laughter.
You know, never did it get contentious yesterday.
I listened to the whole thing, and he was very cordial, and they talked about a lot of baseball items after this beyond the locker room stuff.
So it was all good.
