Yeah, he has, and it's all part of the development.
right out of college expecting him to make that jump to the nhl it's a pretty large it's a large jump so some time in the american hockey league goes a long way so you look what it did for matt savoy coming out of junior and playing his 20 year old season in the ahl and getting a little taste of the nhl too and now where he is a year later is you know it's leaps and bounds different and i would think in ike howard's case you know having a you know pretty much a
close to a full season in the american hockey league he did spend a fair bit of time in the nhl but getting that opportunity to play on the power play in the last minute of the game whether you're up by one or down by one all these key situations you just can't you can't replicate that so it's it's important as far as the development goes
cam moon here keith uh great to have you on the show uh looking at uh players that you finish their junior year they come to the american hockey league and i'm thinking about tommy lafreniere william nickel uh and they get a taste of it and i know that's a big jump coming from major junior to the ahl what have you seen from those two guys
Yeah, Keith, that's got to be huge, those veteran players.
I'm sure it's important that they're good players on the ice, but as far as molding the younger players and showing them the way and that leadership, almost like a Crash Davis-type role from Bull Durham, how important is it that they're really good people?
That says a little something, just that willingness to, whether that's kill penalties or improve on that defensive side of the game for a guy like Quinn Hudson, who I'm sure growing up was always offensively gifted at every step of the way and still putting up really good numbers in the American Hockey League.
What does that say about, I guess, his character and his willingness to improve on the defensive side of the game?
Yes, and that series in particular, in 1987, the goal song for the Oilers was Still the One.
And I remember, I want to say it was game two of that series where the Oilers...
Really gave it to the Kings.
I'm looking it up right now, but I'm pretty sure it was.
Yeah, it was game two.
They won 13 to three.
And I remember by the end of the game, I was at that game with my dad.
I remember you were just like right sick of that song.
Because you just kept hearing it.
Over and over.
Again and again.
Yeah, LA won game one of that series.
