Now, related on some levels to this is the administration's continued efforts to crack down on criminal illegal immigrants.

That includes those on terror watch lists or suspected violent gang members.

What have we seen from the administration on immigration over the last few days?

All right, so clearly ICE not taking the holidays off, like you said.

Now, our immigration reporter, Jenny Tehr, has been documenting the assaults on ICE that have really ramped up over the course of the year.

There's some new data on that, correct?

And despite all that, they've kept up their operations even over the holidays.

Well, the newsiest portion of the night was the fact that the president announced a warrior dividend, a payout of $1,776 to American service members.

Now, this is the first iteration we've seen of kind of this policy being floated as a result of tariffs.

Now, there was this idea speculated weeks ago that Americans all could be getting a tariff payout.

We don't know if that will come to fruition at this point, but this is the first time we've kind of seen this element of the policy come to life.

And that was held very closely to their chest at the White House until tonight when this was announced.

Let's hear more from the president on that.

The president also focused his remarks largely on the economy, including on the concept of affordability.

Now, affordability has become a key topic and nearly a buzzword touted by Democrats and slammed as hypocritical by Republicans, including the president in recent months, as Biden era inflation has cooled significantly since its peak back in 2022.

In addition, the president also made immigration one of his key themes in his year-end address.

He noted how the border has largely gone quiet and poked fun at a border-related proposal in Congress while Biden was in office, and the southern border faced a major humanitarian crisis with thousands of illegal crossings daily at some points throughout his administration.

Now, the president also dropped hints about what he's looking for in the next chair of the Federal Reserve and what that could mean for American homebuyers, as his foe Jerome Powell will be finishing up his term next year.
