Over the course of probably the next 30 or so minutes, it's a battle between me and trying to get something to pass on through. All the while, I'm five feet from the dinner table while they are listening to the gagging and the vomiting that's taking place in the bathroom next door.

Which was a whole other story. But I actually did go to the hospital to have it checked out. They do what's called an esophagram where you drink the barium and then they see if there's any obstruction in your esophagus. Yeah. And they found nothing. So I am left completely and utterly clueless to what causes this. But it is a genetic thing in my family.
