So I had to ban that in the studio because you get a false sense of yourself if you're listening to music because I love music.
There's a piece by Bach in the well-tempered clavier and when I was stuck, I used to always put this CD on and listen to this one piece
and it's almost sort of like water, flowing, rippling water, and it would just do something to my, I don't know, to my brain probably, and then I would be able to start working.
And that I would listen to.
And the whole CD I enjoyed, but it was that piece that just opened that sort of channel in me somehow.
And I used to also listen to Steve Wright in the afternoon on Radio 2 because it was so banal and...
And occasionally he would say, I mean, I couldn't stand this guy when I was a teenager.
And I can't believe that I actually did listen to it in the studio.
But it was like white noise.
And I actually spoke to a couple of other artists who said they also did the same.
And I was absolutely shocked because I thought this is the most embarrassing thing you could possibly do.
But it seemed to provide the same space for them.
Well, I do that too, but this is for actually getting on with work, you know.
That would be too involved.
So it was the fact that it was just nothing.
And I don't have that anymore.
So that sometimes is problematic because I haven't got Steve Wright died, unfortunately.
