And fit is a big part of it.
It is inherent, you know, we can't
put a spreadsheet over top of it and help us, you know, spit out, Oh, if you represent this many fiction authors, this many nonfiction.
Yeah.
I can't put things into a spreadsheet and have it say, I represent this many fiction authors and this many nonfiction authors spit out to me the answer of what I should represent next.
Like there is no Excel version of how to do my job.
My job is very much fluid and my taste and my fit is,
you know, depends on so many other things that's going on in the marketplace or going out on my own list or going out on my own life.
You know, how much can I take on?
I also think about time.
Sometimes fit also has to do with time.
Something could be a good fit and I don't have enough time.
That's something also that I think about, you know, based on different periods of my life or my career, like what I can take on and what load I can take on.
I think about that a lot.
And as I kind of mentioned, as I was segwaying into the conversation, I think, you know, being a generalist,
And hedging, working on so many different categories is also a way to encourage fit.
Because if I'm a generalist, there's more opportunity for fit.
Because if I'm only working on one category, let's say I'm a romance agent or a nonfiction agent.
You have to fit into a more narrow box of what is my fit.
But as a generalist, because I work on fiction and nonfiction across so many categories, I do think there's more opportunities for something to be a fit because I have more room to find the right author in the various categories for me to champion and again, come back to advocacy.
