And it turns out they doctored the facade of the home using AI.
And now the realtor is apologizing.
It seems like fraud to me at worst.
Oh, it completely is fraud.
I mean, I think we're used to Photoshop by now, right?
So like take a regular photo and then punch up the contrast, maybe crop it a little bit.
I think we all expect that so that photos have a more polished look.
But AI is a different thing altogether because in this case, it was used to add windows and then take the windows on the garage door and make them look even bigger than they were.
And then, oh, by the way, throw in a fence and some bushes and get rid of another door and then turn on the interior lights of the home.
And so whoever showed up to this house on open house day would have taken a look at it and said, that is not the house that I saw in the photo.
And of course the image in the ad had, there was no label saying that AI was used in this image.
It was trying to pass itself off as real.
That's dirty pool and that's the problem.
We're way beyond Photoshop here.
We're actually creating things that don't exist in the real world.
And we're tricking people into believing that this is real.
This is an everyday example of a deliberate deep fake.
And honestly, these people deserve to be called out and they deserve some kind of sanction.
Now, places where I live, a lot of people selling them don't want to pay a staging company these days because it can cost tens, $20,000 to have your place look nice when it was just empty after you moved out.
So what they'll do is called virtually stage it.
