It really hits deeply.

Actually seeing the crime scene photo, it made me just very, very angry what had been done to Angie.

She was advocating for justice.

She begged me to give it a deeper look.

My first assessment of this case was that it was not viable for investigative genetic genealogy.

It was highly degraded DNA, so we were missing about 40% of the genetic markers that we need for investigative genetic genealogy.

What I always do is just building trees.

The idea is to build trees and find commonalities between the people who are sharing DNA with the unknown suspect.

You find common ancestors.

And once I am able to do that, I know there's promise.

I know I'm going in the right direction.

And so I just started building trees.
