Today is not Saturday, but I just saw this quote and I'm like, this is a Morning Brew episode material.
The quote says, you grow the most when you stop trying to impress everyone and you start doing it for yourself.
And if I'm being totally honest with you, this is something I personally had to learn more than once.
Because trying to impress people is sneaky.
It doesn't always look like showing off.
Sometimes it looks like saying yes when you really mean no or over explaining your decisions or working harder than necessary just to be seen as enough.
or shaping yourself into what you think others expect.
And the hard part is that you don't always realize that you're doing it.
Now, there is a version of life where you're constantly looking outward.
How am I being perceived?
And when you live there, your decisions start to shift, not based on what feels true to you, but based on what will be accepted, validated, or praised by others.
You start performing your life instead of living your life.
And over time, that disconnect builds.
Trying to impress people is exhausting because the standard keeps moving.
What's enough today might not look like enough tomorrow.
