The Bank of Japan has raised interest rates to a 31-year high of 1%.
The BOJ hiked borrowing costs by 25 basis points to a level not seen since 1995.
Sherry-Anne is Bloomberg's editor-at-large in Tokyo.
Sherian says that the Bank of Japan also dropped a reference to borrowing costs being significantly low in its statement.
That might indicate the rate is approaching the lower range of its estimated neutral rate.
Now to the UK, which is set to impose fresh sanctions on Russia and extend further energy support to Ukraine.
A statement from 10 Downing Street said that Britain is, quote, stepping up and would directly target Russia's illicit shadow fleet, including several LNG vessels.
It comes as the UK and G7 allies look to increase pressure on the United States to bring Vladimir Putin to the negotiating table.
