All right.
All right.
Eric DeReuter writes, you can get back to the old save as model in Mac OS.
I use a hybrid of auto save and save as, so I have the benefits of auto saving with the mental model of using save as.
In system settings, first of all, in desktop and dock, you disable close windows when quitting an application.
This will be in the show notes.
And then secondarily, in keyboard, then keyboard shortcuts, you should create an entry under all applications for save as and assign it to command shift S. And you might want to get a true to form ellipsis by hitting option semicolon.
Again, that will be in the show notes.
I forgot about that.
Thank you.
And then finally, for this portion, Emily Campbell writes,
If you close the file, it asks you if you want to save your changes with the options save, don't save, or cancel, which is the close action.
Or cancel the action of trying to close the file.
If you close the application, it doesn't ask you anything.
It just remembers all your state without touching any of your original files.
In my ideal world, every application would work this way.
It's literally the best possible combination of both models.
It never loses any of my data, but everything feels 100% intentional.
