You're at the University of Adelaide, is that right?
Thank you for clarifying that.
Do you have like a research cohort doing this metabolic research there for some time?
It must be an interesting space and the knowledge base is growing all the time.
So it must be quite fascinating.
Starting at the top, can you explain to listeners a basic understanding of what do we mean by cardiovascular disease?
What conditions may it include and some of the ways that it builds up over time?
Eating is something that we have to do all the time.
So it is really an important area to pay attention to.
Just quickly, I don't want to get bogged down in anything, but even something like the term high blood pressure, and you talked about the capillaries and the blood vessels, basically what's happening with high blood pressure in the body and why is that such a bad thing?
How does that end up contributing to the disease?
Like how does that, that stiffness, like how does it end up leading to the disease?
Well, yeah, the blood can't flow around as well.
Yeah.

A lot of people are on blood pressure medication, but just thinking about how it leads to.
Okay.

Could you please explain to us what that actually means and why it's important with respect to looking at the prevention of cardiovascular disease?
What are some of the markers or the things that we look at to determine whether somebody is functioning well metabolically or whether their metabolic health is not so great?
