That gave me so much more when I was seeing the same events through two such different perspectives.
And I would have loved that in this book as well.
Well, the best thing that I've read this year is not a book that was written this year.
It was written a few years ago, but it's Station Eleven by Emily St.
John Mandel.
And it's not just a favourite for this year, it's a favourite for all time.
I cannot recommend it highly enough.
What's so good about it?
Well, it's a literary dystopian novel.
It won awards in 2015, was shortlisted for a lot of awards as well.
In a nutshell, the book starts with an actor on stage and he has a heart attack while he's performing Shakespeare.
And then we sort of experience the ramifications of his death and the witnessing of his death.

What character?
I'm pretty sure it's Leah that he's playing.
And while that's happening, the night that that happens, a flu comes out of Georgia that begins to wipe out the 99.9% of the world's population.
And we experience that world just before it happens.
It's our world.
We experience it, say, the 24 to 48 hours as it's happening, and then we jump forward 20 years in time to what the world could be like.
