do something it it makes a difference people look at that they see that it's replicable they see it might be something they weren't doing and then boom everybody tries to tries to catch up but in terms of like on a team level um it's it's hard to get too cute with that you know you build teams over the course of years uh they're more like ocean liners than they are uh you know jet speed that's a good one put that on the bumper sticker um
Yeah, make no mistake, you can learn things from those teams.
It's just usually in the industry we're looking around enough that we didn't just notice it because somebody did something in the World Series.
You see it coming, you see what they're doing.
or to the extent that a team's doing something that you didn't expect them to do, you better look in the mirror and say, well, is this a fluke, or did I miss something?
Did I miss something in the way I was looking at how this particular bunch of skills would add up to wins?
And so you try to answer some of those questions.
Well, this is about as good an outcome as you could possibly expect when you take a player in that situation.
Well, I remember the conversations we had about him all that spring.
And it was really interesting because he was a player that had changed a lot, who had made an adjustment going into the spring.
And there was really a decision that every organization had to make on where you're going to buy into that.
Are you going to buy into that sticking and him taking off in pro ball?

uh the staff um their ton of credit for believing in it being stubborn to that and then you know being willing to extend uh to make sure make sure that we got it and then you get them and then sort of like you said this best case scenario right you just don't know but what is it what as you went through it like what is the thing that
Yeah, well, honestly, when he came to us, he had already made some significant adjustments that he did as an amateur.
It was just apparent early on.
Under the hood, he was doing everything that you would want an elite hitter to do.
The swing decisions were good.
The contact and the quality of contact were both in a really good place.
Subjectively, super calm in the box, just looked the part.
