So what happens is every time you do that โ you're essentially shifting your task, your mindset changes, your intention is somewhat changed by this new task, right? So now I've shifted and there's a cost associated with that.

And that requires even more control to get caught up and get back up to speed. So I'm straining my natural resources. I'm straining my cognitive control by shifting back and forth. But here's an even worse part of it. So a memory, we haven't even talked about this, but it's like a lot of our forgetting happens because we have these blurry memories. They're not distinctive.
