The 45-second-long silent film Gugus i l'Automate, or Gugus and the Automaton, is nearly 130 years old.
But the subject matter feels very timely.
A child-sized robot clown grows to the size of an adult and then attacks a human clown with a stick.
The human then destroys the machine with a hammer.
In an Instagram post, Library of Congress Moving Image curator Jason Evans-Groff says the film arrived in a box from a donor in Michigan, Bill McFarland.
McFarlane's great-grandfather, William Delisle Frisbee, a Pennsylvania potato farmer and schoolteacher, was fascinated by new technologies.
The film is available on the Library of Congress' website.
In a press release issued on Friday, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation says it did not uncover any new facts or evidence to support a conclusion different from the original one, that Hunter S. Thompson died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at his home northwest of Aspen, Colorado, on February 20, 2005.
The Bureau says Thompson's widow, Anita Thompson, contacted the Pitkin County Sheriff last summer to share, quote, new concerns and potential information about her husband's death.
Investigators have not shared details.
The counterculture figure was best known as the author of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
In interviews, Thompson sometimes mentioned his struggles with depression, chronic pain and suicidal thoughts.
Cate Blanchett, Viggo Mortensen and Spike Lee were among those present as Pope Leo delivered a speech in Italian about the transformative power of cinema.
Vatican News shared a video of the event and provided an interpreter.
The Pope said that movies aren't just about entertainment.
They also help people pursue meaning, justice and beauty.
He also lamented the widespread closure of cinemas and urged filmmakers and institutions to work together to promote the social and cultural value of moviegoing.
