And it was really, really important to me that
we actually said the word and that we weren't scared to use the word.

So we decided that Quinny was going to be autistic.
Um, and we had some incredible writers that were in the room.
Uh, Quinny was based on the real life experience of one of the writers who wrote Heartbreak High.
Um, there was some ridiculously crazy overlaps to my own life, um, that were not intentional, but I think that's kind of, uh, a showcasing of, of a really wonderfully written character is when, um,
someone else writes and you look at them and go, oh my God, I see so much of myself in her.
But the whole show was so collaborative.
I think all of us had the creative liberty to put input in and had a really beautiful relationship with the creator of the show, Hannah Carol Chapman, and with the writers.
And I think that's why the show is so beautiful because it really is such an authentic portrayal of
not just autism but all of these characters.

Do you find it hard?
