I remember when he decided to give me the job.
I was with my family at the Royal Hobart show on the Ferris wheel and my phone rings and it's Neil.
And he goes, oh, it's Neil here.
I think you're going to get this job.
We need you to come over and have another interview.
And in the meantime, you better have a talk to your missus to see if she wants to come.
And that was it.
I hung the phone up.
So Ursula was there and we had a bit of a talk and we ended up making the big move from Hobart with our young family.
It's a move that we never regretted.
And to be fair, both he and Jen were tremendous to Ursula and I all the way through our journey at Melbourne together, but particularly early days when you're moving from one state to another and everything seems strange and you don't know where to go to get anything.
They were just so helpful to us.
And our children are very good friends with their children as well.
They all grew up together.
So he just created that family environment.
Neil, I think naturally enough, he came from a big family himself, so he understood that and the need for that.
And straight away, he helped us have a sense of belonging when we'd left all our family behind in Tassie.
Yeah, I think as a Melbourne, I think he was there for 10 years.
He might have resigned halfway through his 10th year.
I reckon he evolved as time went on.
