Jim, last night was the hottest May night ever in the UK.
And it was the hottest May bank holiday ever in the UK.
So heat records are being broken.
We're getting early morning lectures, talks on the radio today about El Nino, that weather phenomena that seems to lead to big weather pattern changes.
And of course, we're getting...
all sorts of people saying that this is exactly what you would expect from what the climate models, the climate change models have predicted, in particular the volatility of the weather.
The heat here in the UK yesterday, and I'm sitting in South Wales, and I never thought these words would come out of my mouth.
The heat here was extraordinary yesterday.
It was hotter than parts of Africa here yesterday.
So I'm not going to make any claims as to why it's happening.
But surely this is consistent at the very least.
It correlates with everything that we've been saying about the importance of doing something to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels.
The precautionary principle surely applies here.

Something that should be data-based, scientific opinion-based has become a political football.
Tribal membership is defined by your set of beliefs.
And if you don't like immigration, you know everybody else's beliefs.
You know all the other beliefs that person holds.
It's part of the tribal set of beliefs.
