He says he's dropping out because of the federal immigration crackdown.

Maddow has provided free legal advice to the immigration officer who shot and killed Rene Good in Minneapolis.

He says he initially supported Operation Metro Surge, now calling it an unmitigated disaster.

And pragmatically, he says, it's nearly impossible now for a Republican to win a statewide election in Minnesota.

He says he'd run as an independent if he had the millions of dollars it would take to do it.

Walls says Trump agreed to consider reducing the number of immigration enforcement agents in the Twin Cities.

He also says the president would consider ensuring the state could conduct independent investigations into the killings of Alex Preddy and Renee Macklin Good.
