eventually answer that question was uh billy wright after the ceasefires in 1994 he explained that that the uvf believed it was their policy of attaching catholics in catholic areas which brought the ira to the negotiating table because it was proof that they could not protect catholics and and they honestly believed that that was one of the reasons
We all now know, of course, that there was another reason, and that was the penetration of the IRA by the British Secret Services.

You know, council taxes and water charges and all of those things that make up the body of politics.
We didn't have that.
We had orange and green, basically.
