So this is, again, one of the complications of the system that the 25th Amendment set up here in the United States, which is there is no guarantee that the Speaker of the House or the president pro tem of the Senate are of the president's party.
Right now, Republicans are in charge of both of those houses of Congress, so it wouldn't be operative in this case in this moment.
But, you know, one of the things that the Democratic Congress really worried about in Richard Nixon's presidency was,
was that they had forced out Richard Nixon's vice president and Democrats were in charge of Congress.
And so there was a fear that if they moved ahead with impeaching Richard Nixon while the vice presidency was empty, then actually the Democratic Speaker of the House would be the next one to ascend to the presidency and you would have the presidency flip parties.
And it could be seen as a partisan maneuver
to basically stage a coup and remove the president's governing party from office.

We saw that there were things like bulletproof cameras
Glass that was introduced and some difference in security details and things like that.
Do you think we're going to see more changes moving forward?
I know that Trump has, you know, he's carrying on business as usual and he's speaking like it's business as usual.
But behind the scenes, are there changes going on at the moment?
I think we will see probably changes for the president when he is out at other events, whether it's this president or other presidencies to come.
I do think, though, we should be a little bit cautious about overhyping the threat that this was.
You know, this is an event that is on the relatively minor end.
of presidential security scares.
And there are sort of these events that are just the cost of living in a free society and sort of balancing that risk between presidential accessibility and security.
I can think back to during President Clinton's time, there was a man that opened fire with an AK-47 from the sidewalk outside the White House, spraying the building with gunfire
