We could have ended the charade a month ago, and maybe the Yankees could have been a little bit more creative in the trade market, or they could have maybe pursued a guy like Bo Bichette seriously.
Because after Bichette went to the Mets, then you hear, you know, the YPM, the Yankee propaganda machine spin and said, oh, you know, they didn't really like him defensively at shortstop.
Well, nobody's asking him to play shortstop.
The team that just signed him is not even asking him to play shortstop.
There are a lot of ways to go with Bo Bichette as a Yankee.
You don't like Ryan McMahon at third base?
Okay, tough lefty, boom, there's your third baseman.
Because that's where he's playing with the Mets, playing third base.
Oh, well, you're not paying Ryan McMahon $16 million to be a platoon player.
Well, I don't know what you're doing with Ryan McMahon right now.
I mean, you're praying that this guy has like a 725 OPS and can hit 25 home runs and be a semblance of a league average major league hitter, which he was far from with the Yankees last year.
And then, what, when there's a righty on the mound?
There's going to be opportunities at DH.
I love Giancarlo Stam.
Who in their right mind doesn't think Stam's missing at least 65 games this year?
Honestly, if I was willing to bet, I'd bet he doesn't even make the team out of spring training healthy.
Boone said a while ago he was beat up at the end of the season.
The elbows were barking.
Who's to say the Yankees just don't shut him down?
He comes to spring training, work him out, and say, you know what, take April and May off.
