I can't trade the combination of Ben Rice and Cam Schlittler in one deal for a rental.
I can't trade a guy.
What I really can't do is looking at this roster and trying to figure out where the 30-plus home runs are coming from.
That's what I can't do.
Prospects are prospects, and I'll trade every single one of them.
It's plucking guys off of my major league roster that I expect to be big contributors to my 2026 team is what I have a problem with.
I think Ben Rice is going to hit 30 to 35 home runs this year.
He's going to get around 600-plus plate appearances.
He came dangerously close to 30 last year with less than 600.
So adding those extra plate appearances, playing 81 games at Yankee Stadium with his power, and everybody loves to say he was the unluckiest hitter in baseball last year, he's going to get at, near, or over 35.
It's going to happen.
Where do the Yankees replace that from when I'm already worried about the Yankees against good pitching?
This lineup is good enough to batter mediocre pitching, be the second best offense in baseball, like everybody likes to throw their hat at, and win 90 games this year.
What I don't know if it's good enough to do is to beat good pitching and win multiple rounds in a postseason and get back to the World Series.
Cause they didn't do that last year and it's running back 26.
So where are we replacing that offensive production?
Oh, when I posted this on X, somebody said, well, then you just move Bellinger to first base.
No issue there.
