If you put all your eggs into the Cody Bellinger basket and then are not willing to get into a bidding war should one arise, then I don't know what we did all season.
We're less than four weeks away from the Yankees starting spring training, and they haven't made any additions to this team to get them closer to being a world championship team.
Now, adding Cody Bellinger back to a team that lost in the ALDS doesn't get them any closer.
It just brings back the status quo.
So if you really thought you were Garrett Cole away from winning a World Series and then don't bring back Cody Bellinger, how do you make that argument to the fan base?

I mean, that might be tough talk to Scott Boris and Cody Bellinger, like, hey, take it or leave it.
But if that's true, if that's out there because that's what the Yankees are going to do, then you failed and you failed miserably.
Because you have no backup plans.
You have no backup plans to Cody Bellinger should he get another deal, one that you would have to compete with in this market.
