Much later in the 1980s, when I got to know her, then this kitchen was reported as the only or the most important element of her entire work. And that then annoyed her. But the Frankfurt kitchen had now become a design icon.
In Frankfurt they decided to build apartments with a small kitchen, a work kitchen. The work kitchen had connections from the entrance hall to the kitchen and then from the kitchen to the living room with the dining area. A small kitchen was necessary, one which saved steps and hand movements. That meant that this kitchen really only measured about 3.5 by 1.8 meters.

which she planned and furnished herself. We were able to largely restore this apartment and make it so it can now be visited. We were able to reconstruct her personal kitchen last year. It was no longer there, so we restored it using plants and photographs.
