And she said that it just felt so inauthentic to be someone that wanted to be married that she felt suffocated.
And it's really interesting because I think I relate to her.
I'm someone who like marriage has not been something that's ever really called to me in that way because she said that people were more happy for her.
When she was engaged in all of her careers and when she adopted her children combined.
And she felt that it threatened her identity and that people were going to see her value in being married and not in her career.
Wow.
And you shouldn't have to choose.
You can do everything you want.
Exactly.
And that's kind of how I relate to her.
And I feel like as I'm getting older, I'm trying to even like shift my mindset of that.
Of like, you don't have to be put in a box.
Totally.
I mean, that's just the patriarchy.
Being like, if you're married, you're like a weak, like submissive woman.
Yeah.
And if you're a career woman, you're a bitch who doesn't care about anyone else but yourself.
And it's like, you can just be whoever you want to be and do whatever you want to do.
Exactly.
But I don't blame her for feeling that way, though.
