They were writing.

Now, they both did want kids, but it seems like it just wasn't possible for them.

The reason was never explained.

It was just that they couldn't have kids.

And then one day, Joan's friend brings up the conversation of adoption with Joan.

And her friend had actually adopted her child, and she gave Joan and John the doctor who had delivered her own adopted child.

a thing that people were having babies or leaving babies at the hospital that's how her friend got her baby so she gave john and joan this doctor's number and then in the early hours of march 3rd 1966 they get a call

And Joan was in the shower, and she burst into tears when John came in and said he just got a call from that same doctor saying they had just delivered a beautiful baby girl at St.

John's Hospital in Santa Monica, and they needed to know whether they wanted her or not.

So an hour later, they stood outside the window of a nursery at St.

John's looking at the baby girl.

And the beads on her wrist didn't spell out her name, but N-I for no information.

I know.

And Joan said there was no question that was their baby.

That's so sweet.

So they adopt a baby girl on March 3rd, 1966.

They name her Quintana Roo Dung after a Mexican state.
