Play It As It Lays was actually my first Joan Didion book that I read.
And it's not a book of essays like The White Album and like Slouching Towards Bethlehem.
It's a narrative fiction story.
sheet however i and it's like pretty much understood that the main character is supposed to be joan so play it as it lays is about this actress living in los angeles who is psychologically detached emotionally numb and drifting through life that was all that was our experience when we first got to la no literally until probably like two years ago
I'm like, just put that in my Instagram bio.

She wrote the screenplay for it, but it ends up being a kind of trash movie, which is such a shame.
Imagine if we could remake that today.

Who would you cast in it?
Who would be the lead?
That's such a good question.
Well, I think I would know who I would want to direct.

But if it were someone more established, I think I would choose Sofia Coppola.
Oh, yeah, it's perfect.
I think we need the vibes.
Oh, yes, that's good.
