And that was quite a thing because Tim Fisher, who you might have heard of, Tim was the leader of the Nationals for a very long time.
He was the member there from 1984 all the way through to 2001.
Quite a quirky character, Tim.
Love Tumbarumba, which came from that area.
He, of course, died a few years ago now.
When he vacated that seat, he gave them plenty of notice, like a long time.
And the idea was that the national – he did a whole community pre-selection.
The idea would be that –
Every national party member and sort of prominent community members in that area would be able to have a say in who would be the national party candidate for that election in 2001.
They ended up picking a guy called Bill Bott and Bill was a mayor from the area.
It went down in folklore that Bill Bott was the only candidate running for the Nats who actually looked older than Tim Fisher.
Susan Lee, as a young woman, a young professional woman with a family who didn't come from Albury.
She actually came from Victoria, but she was able to really make the case, certainly to the people of Farrah, that she was the option.
So the Libs won that seat and it was quite a thing at the time.
