Hi, I'm Claire Nicholls, and if today's getting to be all too much for you, have you considered throwing in the job, the responsibility, and living life as a dog?
This is The Book Show, where the Australian writer Michael Winkler is going to help us consider if life might be easier if we were the family pet.
You're also going to meet the British slam poet and musician Kay Tempest.
He's written a really beautiful new novel, so stick around for that.
Michael Winkler, though, he made Australian literary history in 2022 when his novel Grimmish was shortlisted for the Miles Franklin Literary Award.
It was the first ever self-published novel to make the shortlist.

Text Publishing has just released Grief Dog.
Yes, that's one word with two Gs at the end.
And put simply, it's about a guy who, when it all becomes too much, decides to live as the family pet.
