And so I tried for many years to stop.
It took me five or six years to finally stop.
And Australia is a very difficult place to stop drinking because people don't want you to stop.
Your friends don't want you to stop because it means they have to look at themselves.
You're all right, mate.
You're fine, mate.
Don't worry about it.
You're not an alcoholic, mate.
You're just one of us.
And it is a chronic problem.
And so I wanted there to be light in my life instead of darkness.
And there was too much darkness.
But really, at the end of the day, with addiction, you have to just really want to stop.
That was the whole thing with me, was I wanted to stop because I wanted to change my life.
And that's one of the reasons I left Australia.
Yeah.
Yeah, Men at Work was really over before it started.
You know, it was over at the end of 83.
At the end of 1983 into 1984, John and Gerry being the bass player and drummer, they got sacked, which ultimately was...
