And we didn't have a record deal or anything, you know.

So we knew that people liked what we did.

But when the first album hit, it was really, this is just kind of...

snowballing little spot fires all over the world.

America was the last country to really pick up on the band.

So we had like between six and nine months before they finally kicked in over there.

You know, it felt like we were in control of what was going on, but of course,

You know, you're trying to cope, really, you know.

And you do the best job you can, really.

And I thought I knew everything, and it turns out that I knew nothing.

Well, what did you think you knew?

What do you mean?

Well, things like, yeah, I believe you kind of hit certain periods of your life where instinctively you're supposed to hit your stride, you know.

And I seemed to hit my stride at the right moments.

I recognized that.

I recognized that there was something outside of myself which was at work here, and I just had to respond to it.

So I found myself standing in the light, and you go, wow, I'm in the light.

So you respond to that, and you've got to step up.

You've got to perform, or else you shy away from it, or else you sabotage it.

You know, you can do all kinds of things to mess it up, you know.
